Laser tattoo removal

The laser, used in the Medical Clinic Podhale Art in Zakopane, removes the tattoo by emitting very short light pulses (nanoseconds), which are absorbed by the tattoo dye. After absorption, the dye explodes into very small fragments – they are absorbed in the skin and then removed by the body’s immune system. Thanks to this, laser tattoo removal is a procedure that does not cause permanent skin damage. Microdamages resulting from the treatment gradually heal and the dye becomes less and less visible.

This laser allows you to select the light beam to the type of dyes used in the tattoo. It has light emitting tips with two wavelengths:

1064 nm for removing dark tattoos (e.g. black, green, purple, gray, navy blue),
532 nm for removing lighter tattoos (e.g. red, yellow, orange).

Contraindications

There are also contraindications for laser tattoo removal, such as:

active, fresh tan (2 weeks before the procedure in the case of a sun tan or a month in the case of a solarium),
skin diseases such as vitiligo or the active phase of psoriasis
skin infections (viral, fungal, bacterial), inflammation,
cancer, chemotherapy, autoimmune diseases,
unregulated diabetes, epilepsy, pacemaker,
tendency to develop keloids,
epilepsy,
sensitivity to light,
kidney failure
the use of herbs and dermatological photosensitizing drugs: isotretinoin (in the last 3-6 months), tretinoin (in the last 2 weeks),
the use of antidepressants, immunosuppressants, tetracyclines,
blood coagulation disorders, use of blood thinners,
pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Before the surgery

The treatment of removing a tattoo, permanent make-up or discoloration with the use of laser light involves the need to follow certain rules. Before such a procedure, you must refrain from sunbathing (preferably for about a month); as well as taking photosensitizing herbal preparations, such as: horsetail, chamomile, calendula, and St. John’s wort. One day before the procedure, you should not drink alcohol.

After treatment

a few hours after surgery.
In some cases, there may also be microdamages to the skin, followed by scabs that heal within a few days.
For a few days after the treatment, you should lubricate and moisturize the skin and use SPF 50 sunscreen.
The skin should be treated gently, do not wipe with a rough towel, do not scratch the scabs, do not use tonics or creams based on acids or alcohol.
For 72 hours after the treatment, you cannot use the sauna or swimming pool due to the risk of skin infection at the treatment site.
