Briefly – scars and blemishes are skin defects that can be acquired at any age. In addition, there are many different reasons for their formation: under the influence of sunlight, after acne, surgery, illnesses, injuries or burns. Most people struggling with these problems want to get rid of them at all costs. Currently, there are many ways in which we can remove unwanted scars and discoloration. However, one of the most effective methods to get rid of unsightly defects on our skin are laser treatments.

At the Medical Clinic Podhale Art in Zakopane, we perform such treatments using one of the most modern laser equipment: a multifunctional platform used to treat both scars and other skin imperfections.

The ablative fractional laser uses an innovative solution which emits several dozen micro-beams during treatments. They cause microdamages of the skin in a controlled manner, which causes its intensive reconstruction by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers, which constitute the scaffolding and filling the skin. Through the renewal of tissues, the skin smoothing effect is achieved, as well as the improvement of the color. The treatments are effective, safe and comfortable. In addition, the depth of penetration of the beam can be adjusted, which significantly improves the precision of operation. The tissues surrounding the lesion are not damaged – the treatment works only in selected areas.

The first effects are visible immediately after leaving the office. However, it takes a while for the final results. After the series of treatments has been completed, the condition of the skin improves significantly. It becomes taut, smoother, discoloration and unevenness of the skin are reduced.

After the treatment, you can return to your daily activities, as no serious irritation is observed. There may be slight redness and slight irritation, as well as a feeling of dryness, tightness and burning. However, after a few days the epidermis may peel off.

• slight scars (surgical scars, burn scars, acne / atrophic scars),
• discoloration and freckles,
• wrinkles,
• flabby skin,
• dark circles and bags under the eyes,
• face modeling / lifting,
• stretch marks,
• acne vulgaris.

Contraindications for laser treatments are, for example:

• pregnancy and breastfeeding,
• a fresh tan, acquired within 2 weeks or a month in the case of a solarium,
• inflammation and skin infections,
• albinism,
• tumors,
• tendency to develop keloids,
• taking retinoids, antibiotics, antidepressants or immunosuppressants in the last 6 months,
• active phase of psoriasis,
• sensitivity to light,
• epilepsy,
• kidney failure.

Laser therapy is also not performed in patients using certain medications, e.g.

• photosensitizing drugs: isotretinoin (in the last 3-6 months), tretinoin (in the last 2 weeks),
• antidepressants,
• tetracyclines,
• immunosuppressants.

Before the procedure:

• give up retinoids six months earlier,
• a month before, do not sunbathe and do not use self-tanning cosmetics,
• two weeks earlier, stop taking antibiotics,
• discontinue herbs that may sensitize to light, such as: St. John’s wort, calendula, chamomile, field horsetail,
• limit alcohol consumption (drinking is forbidden until 24 hours before the procedure).

After the laser treatment, follow the recommendations, such as:

• use moisturizing and soothing creams recommended by a cosmetologist,
• do not sunbathe, use high filters with the factor UVA and UVB,
• not to use the sauna and swimming pool,
• dry the skin gently, do not rub with a towel,
• do not use irritating and exfoliating preparations,
• use delicate preparations for washing.
